Every January, I eagerly await the reveal of the new year’s design trends. The colours, the textures, the prints – oh my! And because I can’t afford to redecorate every year (really, who can?), I try to find small ways to incorporate what’s trending.
Here are some of my faves for 2018:
1. Warm-toned Metals
Brass and copper finishes continue to dominate this year and are a great way to add a touch of opulence to your space.
Noir Cooper Metal Wall Mirror, Wayfair.
2. Vintage-look Rugs
Layering in pieces that appear steeped in history add a collected feel to your room (without the hefty price tag!)
Bungalow Rose Blair Vintage Grey Area Rug, Wayfair.
3. Woven-look Designs & Natural Fibres
Adding natural touches like jute or seagrass can help balance heavier elements like metal or stone.
Braided Jute Pouf, CB2.

Decorator Secrets for
Picking Paint Colours
I know how overwhelming it can be to choose paint colours. It's the single most common design dilemma I hear from people - in fact, it's the very reason I put this guide together!
4. Pale Hues
There’s something so fresh and uplifting about light and airy paint colours!
Pleasant Pink, White Zinfandel, Touch of Grey, Benjamin Moore.
5. Curvy Furniture & Velvet Upholstery
Pieces with rounded lines offer a welcome compliment to the modern, square angles that continue to trend in the furniture showrooms. Up the glam factor with plush velvet upholstery.
Cosona Lounge Chair, Avenue Road.
6. Vintage-style Lighting
Often overlooked, lighting plays a vital role in your overall design aesthetic. Layer in multiple light sources to create truly multifunctional rooms.
Italian Murano Glass Lanterns, 1stdibs.
